Abstract

This paper aims to portray the evolution of conciliation given the new legislation on the subject. The focus is to analyze if conciliation is an effective option in Brazilian Federal Courts, considering the time spent and the costs. Hence, a brief conceptual and exploratory research of data concerning the conciliation model in Brazilian Federal Courts is presented. Also, it is performed an analysis of the efficiency and effectiveness of conciliation in terms of cost and time. In addition, a comparison between common judiciary procedures and conciliation is performed, showcasing differences regarding cost, appealability, average time, congestion, and procedural volume.
