Abstract

This study assessed new trends, perspectives and challenges to legal practice, applying Artificial Intelligence-based systems, especially in the field of procedural law. Therefore, a review of the most recent literature on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the impacts of the turning-points in the technology applied to the law was carried out. For better understanding the subject, the study was divided into general aspects related to AI, current reality of the Brazilian justice system, digital revolution and the disruption in the legal scenario, as well as the perspectives and challenges of the reality of which the law when dealing with the advent of AI. Issues related to AI are themes designed and idealized, mainly when associated with life, behavior and society, long before its conception and current uses. Technological evolution drove the Digital Revolution (Industry 4.0), permeating various areas, ranging from economic aspects, public and private media, consultancy, medicine and law, triggering unstoppable social transformations. Within this scenario of globalized digital disruption, there is a need for adaptation to new paradigms adressed to law. There is a need to understand the current and future impacts of the application of mechanisms based upon disruptive technologies, especially AI. It is important to emphasize that it is necessary for the Brazilian legal ecosystem to appropriate these new artifacts for tacklling the numerous challenges of law, due to the possibility of reconfiguration of the law and all its fields.
