Abstract

The article proposes to discuss Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its implication for Sustainable Development, focusing on the use of AI applications within the Judiciary and in the light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. In this sense, it seeks to place technological innovations and Justice in the commitment made by the goals inherent to the global development project. With methodological support in the documentary and bibliographic survey, a qualitative analysis was undertaken to, in the first chapter, examine the concept and the evolutionary process of sustainable development; in the second chapter, analyze AI and its relationship with sustainable development from the objectives that make up the 2030 Agenda; and, finally, discuss the implementation of AI in the sphere of action of Justice and its advances and challenges in meeting the SDGs, focusing on the example of the Brazilian Judiciary, concluding that AI applications can help the Judiciary to exercise its their role in SDG 16, but which require concern and greater effort for a regulatory agenda.
