Abstract

This article aims to defend the thesis according to which, in Brazil, quality education involves human rights education aimed at preparing for the exercise of citizenship, while demonstrating the main lines of the […] project , conceived by the Human Rights Education Extension Project, at the University […] (…), which aims to develop a simulated election in twenty-one basic education schools whose different phases involve facing various aspects related to the democratic experience and the challenges of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level. After a justification about the indispensability of treatment of the project's themes by basic education, the article presents the work dynamics with their respective foundations: theoretical (based especially on critical pedagogy), normative (based on the process of densification of art. 205 of the Constitution Brazilian 1988) and methodological (from the perspective of the primacy of active methodologies such as project-based learning). The method of construction of the argument is predominantly deductive, as it presents the theoretical and normative framework of what it should be, then a cut of the being of Brazilian education to, in the end, present a methodologically privileged proposal for another educational model. The conclusion goes in the direction that quality education goes through transversal active methodologies that offer students instruments, both theoretical and practical, that allow them to understand the democratic context in which they live in a meaningful way in order to, willingly, transform it.
